It feels so wrong, but it feels so right

As you may know, being from Seattle, we in NPSH feel a certain kinship with Nirvana and the grunge era of our city's past. It would be easy to assume, with our bright colors and pop dance rock, that we would be engaging in somewhat of a rebellion against the music of our elders (aka grunge), but in fact just the opposite is true. We feel that if Kurt were alive today he'd be enjoying success playing a type of music not unlike our own. And we would enjoy it with him. We are proud to carry on the tradition with what we call "nu-grunge." That being said, here along with NPSH fav pop divas Destiny's Child, I am proud to present: NIRVANA vs. DESTINY'S CHILD

I dont think you're ready for this jelly.

Has Twitter Taken Over? / The Future

Are longform blogs no longer relevant?? Has our collective attention span dwindled to include only what can be summarized in 140 characters? Is this the end of blogs?

It may seem that way, but I won't let that happen. The NPSH blog is an important place for you to come and chill a few times a week, like the after school program keeping an inner city child out of ganglife. We don't want you in a gang, unless it is our gang.

Rest assured, we will have updates from the road as things happen! The Lily tour starts on APRIL 1st! That is so insanely soon. Time has flown hasn't it? Stay tuned for everythang NPSH on our blawg. We'll have some vids, insider stuff, random lame internet crap, you name it. We love y'all. (I feel like I am more entitled to say y'all than I was in the past after visiting Austin, TX last week).

Speaking of that, I have a vid for you of the smallest sliver of a fraction of our adventures at SXSW 2009 coming soon. It still will be a fun view, I hope. Until they make a full video camera on my phone or we have a camera crew following us around, I think it'll be hard to capture all the good moments. We'll make that a goal though. Tech note: I have found that editing MP4 video files in Final Cut Pro realllly sucks. Vid people know what I'm talking about. Any advice? Ditch the Xacti?

Anyway, while we approach this new chapter in NPSH life and our relationship with you, I just want to pause and say thank you. We appreciate you being you and being so cool as to be on this very wild ride with us.

Love y'all.

We're Baaaack! *SXSW 2009*

Wow. What an amazing trip. A serious trip. It was more insane than than they said it would be, but we had the time of our lives. I am way too tired to think right now, but I'm sure there will be a NPSH Austin recap soon. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, and thanks to all the rad bands we got to see, all the food that sacrificed itself for our delicious enjoyment, and all the great people of Austin and beyond. Much luv.

My favorite tumblog, next to The Daily Bunny of course, is probably Rob Huebel's. And his new favorite is SCANWICHES!

Scanning a sandwich makes it look kind of delicious and kind of disgusting at the same time...

Be Daft Punk

Okay, maybe you've seen Katy Perry's blog post about being Daft Punk with the little keyboard drum set thats been floating around the internet... but now you really cannnnn be Daft Punk here: http://www.najle.com/idaft/

And you can play all the robot vocals from "Harder, Better, Faster Stronger." Alas, there are no drums in this keyboard internet music maker, so I think Katy's keyboard drum site wins. Still good for a few minutes of fun though! NPSH version coming soon???

P.S. if you wanna get a little freaked out and hear how blatant the Edwin Birdsong sample is in "H, B, F, S," you can check that out here.

This is a rad idea for a necklace. Nice shot too. I found it on flickrrrrr.

Maybe we should make those???

Invasion of the Retro Cereal Boxes

Good Sunday morning everyone! As you eat your morning cereal here is something 2 chew on. It looks like General Millz is releasing some old-school style cereal boxes. Check out those weird looking mascots! Overall, it's a nice refreshing change to look at. Has anyone seen these on the shelves yet? Do they come with retro prices too?

Hopefully the cereal doesn't taste as old as these packages look.

Then and now:

Which do you like better??

And to go with your morning cereal we also have orange juice. Is anyone else really peeved at the new Tropicana package? It suxx so bad. I didn't even recognize it anymore when I saw it in the store. And how can you beat that iconic straw-in-orange image? You can't. That's why they are switching back to the old package. Thank you.

Sorry to go all "designy" on you, but sometimes you just gotta. It's someone's job to design the stuff we use all the time without thinking. Suck on that.

Have a good day.
